Extending over an area of 46km2, Oeiras municipality is located in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, bordering with the Capital to the east, Cascais to the west, Sintra and Amadora at north. In the south, there is the estuary of the River Tagus and the Atlantic Ocean.

The coastline spreads throughout 9 km, where the beaches Torre, Santo Amaro de Oeiras and Paço de Arcos are reference points.

Its weather is temperate maritime, which is perfect to walks and outside activities. Alongside the coast, the fortified line is detached which remind us the important strategic role of this district in the commercial exchanges, that became intense with the Portuguese Discoveries odyssey.

Also during that time, Oeiras revealed itself as an agriculture and industrial reference point. An essential figure in Oeiras Village and also in Portugal History is Sebastião José de Carvalho e Mello, the Marquis of Pombal and Count of Oeiras, to whom was given jurisdiction of this land in 1759, by the king D. José I. During this season, important stop places are the Marquis of Pombal Gardens and Palace, recognized as national monument and Royal Caxias Farm.

Nowadays, Oeiras is a modern, attractive and dynamic municipality. Besides it is among the top of the Portuguese developed municipalities, in different matters like employment, education, investigation, patrimony and foreign investment.
